Arrived in Oslo, by the way!

You might have guessed it, but just for the record: I made it to Oslo - but was first too busy doing other stuff (e.g. getting the internet running) and then too tired to write this article. Well, and then I went on my first real adventure (not the adventure of making it to the supermarket and back last night :D) today, that's why this blog article comes so late. I'll try and compensate that with a few more photos.

Anyway, so I went from Frankfurt to Oslo with Lufthansa. As you might know, they are not exactly cheap, but they have a certain tolerance level when it comes to luggage. I actually exceeded their limits twice - my check-in baggage was too heavy and my "small" cabin bag was not so small -, and they just did not care. So if you need to fit basically your whole life into a suitcase, Lufthansa might be a good idea. Plus, they managed to achieve the miracle of departing late - the flight was fully booked or maybe even overbooked - but arriving early! The flight actually only took 1:35 hours, not 2:05, as officially claimed.

And since my flight was in the afternoon, I saw the sun set during a flight for the first time in my life! I had not really been planning on taking photos during the flight, so my camera was somewhere on the bottom of my backpack. If you will excuse mobile phone photo quality...

Departing from Frankfurt - not so exciting...

2 rows away from the overwings emergency exit = impractical for photos...

By the time we reached Oslo, it was of course already completely dark:

And it wouldn't be Oslo airport, if there wasn't...

... snow on the airfield (and a Norwegian airline plane)!

I managed to collect my luggage again after watching the luggage belt for about a dozen of rounds, find the airport train station and literally jump into a train right away. Good timing, for once. :D

And it wouldn't be the greater Oslo area, if there wasn't...

... snow at the train stations!

I changed at Oslo S (sentralstasjon = central station) into the T-bane (something in between metro and tram, sometimes underground, sometimes overground) in the direction of my accommodation.

And it wouldn't be an overground T-bane station in Oslo, if there wasn't...

... snow at the T-bane station!

(Yes, this picture is from the next day, but the amount of snow hasn't changed since yesterday.)

Anyway, so I made it to Sogn, the student village in which I'll live this semester. It's actually a village with lots of houses all looking the same. There's even a supermarket in the village. Conveniently, it's two minutes away from my house. But since the streets in the village look about the same as the platforms of the station above, going there yesterday night - which was necessary because Norwegian shops are closed on Sundays - became a bit of an adventure...

I'm not going to bore you with photos of my room (it's a furnished single room, quite standard, I guess - it's definitely bigger than 10 square metres though ;)), but will finish this article with views out of the windows:

My room, this morning

Kitchen, this afternoon (around 3:50 p.m.)
