Registration in Norway

Today, after a quick trip to IKEA (I know that's Swedish, but it's probably the only place where you can stuff for cheap-ish!), orientation week started (and theoretically also the first week of classes - but mine all seem to start later). In the information session, we were kindly reminded that we have to register/apply when coming to Norway. I guess that's how you notice that you're not actually in a EU country at the moment (other than that you have to complete and add a form when sending parcels to/from Norway, stating the content and its value - which is a bit annoying if its a present...). However, there is a simplified application process for EU/EEA citizens. And thanks to the internet, part of it can be done online:

So what do you want here?

Then you still need to hand in a bunch of documents in order to prove what you just stated. But at least you don't actually have to book an appointment with the police. BI has an agreement with them, so you can just hand in all the documents at the Student Service Centre and they will pass them on collectively. It's a bit of a win-win situation, because I highly doubt that the police would like to deal with hundreds of international students each semester. (They still have to deal with the Non-EU/EEA students, though.)

So yeah, I just completed the online application form and will try to find all the necessary documents this week. The deadline for handing in all the stuff is next week, and if you miss it, you will need to make an appointment with the police after all.

Anyway, that's it for now. There's going to be a separate article on BI and its super fancy campus soon, but I need to take some more photos first. In the meantime, enjoy this photo of my view from the common kitchen I took this "morning" (like 9:40 a.m.):

There's really not much daylight at the moment, but the bit we have is beautiful! :)
