Checking out Universitetet i Oslo (Blindern campus)

First of all, let me emphasise that Universitetet i Oslo is not a typo! It's a grammatical phenomenon of Norwegian grammar: universitet (= university, obviously) is the basic form of the word. Since the word is neutral, it uses the "et" article: et universitet = a university. And to get the definite form, the Norwegian language takes the article and attaches it as a suffix to the basic form, which yields universitetet = the university! Therefore, the name of the school literally translates into "The University in Oslo". However, it's usually just called "University of Oslo". Or UiO, the abbreviation of the Norwegian name.
That was a quite long foreword to: today (or rather yesterday, as it's past midnight yet again), I returned to UiO Blindern campus to have a real look at it. The university is actually quite close to BI, which can be seen on the obligatory Google Maps screenshot:

And I live just in between: one stop from Nydalen (BI) in one direction, two stops from Blindern (UiO) in the other direction. My stop is next to Ullevaal Stadion; however, it's spelled Ullevål stadion, like everything in the Ullevål neighbourhood but the stadium.

Anyway, so I took the T-bane to Blindern and just started walking around the campus. Unlike BI, UiO has a lot of buildings, with paths leading from one building to the other, forming an actual university campus. One of the buildings was quite interesting, because it seemed to contain only cafés, restaurants, shops, and services. Since I'm not a student of UiO and hardly anyone there knows me, I decided to take a few photos in there, like an annoying tourist:

Hairdresser and waxing studio, I'm not kidding!

Supermarket with tiny post station.

Gym right next to the chapel

Except for this one, I didn't really enter the university buildings. Partly, because I feared not getting out again, like after the ESN event. It seems like the university closes the doors at some point, and you can only get in/out with a student key card. So as external students (infiltrators from BI), we could not get out until somebody from the university wanted to leave as well. (I'm sure that's against legal safety regulations though...) And partly, because the inside was not super exciting the day before:

With the exception of the piano maybe. :D

Anyway, I found the outside areas nicer, so I'm gonna spam you with more pictures here:

It's a really nice campus, I think. And it might be even nicer (or equally nice in another way) in spring/summer, so I'm definitely going to return later in the semester! But yeah, for now, it's quite obviously winter. I probably wouldn't have to mention it, but: it was snowing during my mini trip to Blindern. And of course, it had been snowing before. A lot. That's why the masses of snow were stacked up to huge piles on the university campus:

In the second one, the one with the hole, there were even people inside! xD

And when you left campus, the tram rails looked like this:

Nevertheless, the tram as well as the metro were running - fortunately; otherwise, I would have had to walk back home!
